Arab Film Days is Norway’s only film festival exclusively screening films from and about the Arab world. The festival had its first edition in 2011, and was in 2016 visited by 4482 people, which equals 60 % of all available tickets. The 7th edition of the festival was held March 30th and April 2nd, 2017.
- Contribute to diversity in the cinema by presenting the best and most interesting of Arab features and documentaries from the past year, in addition to samples from the classic film heritage in the region.
- To use films to put the spotlight on current social and political issues in the region, combining screenings with talks and debates.
- To support the independent Arab filmmakers by presenting their films, inviting them to Norway and by initiating meetings with Norwegian film industry and producers. By screening films that do not appear in conventional cinema, putting them into a larger context and present them in a frame that audience demonstrably appreciate, we argue that Arab Film Days fills an important gap in the programing in the Norwegian cinemas and the larger cultural scene.
