Earlier this week, the Films from the South Honorary Award was given to Raoul Peck, the festival guest of honour, and during Saturday´s closing ceremony the rest of this year’s winners was also revealed.

The Oslo Municipal Cinema Release Award and the Audience Award both went to the Israeli film Waltz with Bashir, something as rare as an autobiographical animated documentary.
The FIPRESCI Award, selected by an international jury consisting of Marina Kostova, Hubert Niogret and Vegard Larsen, went to Jia Zhang Ke’s 24 City.
New this year is Dok:Sør, the Films from the South Documentary Award, which went to the music documentary War Child.

An unsuspecting Hana Makhmalbaf was present during the ceremony and its high point came when she was presented with the Silver Mirror, Films from the South’s main award, for her Buddha Collapsed Out of Shame.
