How to do journalism in Afghanistan under the Taliban?

After the screening on the  12th of November at Vega 3, we invite you to a conversation about the Taliban's takeover in Afghanistan with Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Anders Hammer and professor and journalist Elisabeth Eide. 

The two Afghanistan experts will also discuss director Ibrahim Nash'at's methods and the challenges of accepting the Taliban's restrictions to make films in Afghanistan. 

Panelists:

• Anders Hammer is a Norwegian journalist and documentary filmmaker. He was nominated for an Oscar for his documentary Do not Split, about the protest movement in Hong Kong in 2019. In his latest film, The Takover, Hammer closely followed the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan, with a particular focus on the severely restricted women’s rights in the country.
• Elisabeth Eide is a journalist, traveler, and Professor Emerita at OsloMet. She has authored or co-authored a large number of books, among them one on India's development towards Hindu nationalism and several books on Afghanistan.
