Opium War
From the director of the critically acclaimed Osama (2003), comes a stunning film about war interacting with daily life in Afghanistan. Two American soldiers bump into a poppy field in the middle of the desert. The food and opium from the Afghan family working the field help them survive. At first the Americans are greeted with hate and anger, but their presence is accepted gradually, albeit unwillingly. Without special effects but with warmth and humor, Opium War shows us, unlike other war movies, the consequences of conflict seen from more than one side.
