Waste Land

"This trash is definitely middle class", the garbage pickers smirk as they dig their way through a single bag from the mountain of waste. Jardim Gramach is located outside Rio de Janeiro, and is one of the worlds largest garbage dumps. Renowned photographer Vik Muñiz returns to Brazil to start an artistic and social project involving the pickers from the dump. Along the way we get acquainted with the colorful individuals who, despite their situation, are brimming with wit, humor and lust for life.
