Post Mortem

The bloody history of Chile is dissected in the morgue where quietsome Mario works, typing autopsy reports. He is about to get his life turned upside down in the Chilean coup of 1973. His existence has been a drowsy routine until he proposes to his neighbour Nancy, an exotic cancan dancer. When she abruptly disappears during the bloody coup, his only wish is to find her again. Meanwhile the morgue is taken over by the Chilean army and his job is to autopsy the victims of the revolution, knowing that Nancy could be among them. Through a close and personal portrayal of the lovers, Larrain seeks to understand the dramatic upheaval that changed Chilean society for ever. dgr
