Last Life in the Universe
Master Class with director Pen-Ek Ratanaruang before the screening on Friday October 12th. The event starts at 17:30 in Lillebil, Filmens Hus.
An unexpected and intriguing love story about suicide, multilingualism and geckos. Life, death and love; the corner stones of existence. But in the case of Pen-Ek Ratanaruang’s Last Life in the Universe, neither life, death nor love comes easy. Kenji is a Japanese living in exile in Bangkok. He lives a strictly organized life ruled by his OCD, and contemplates suicide. But his brother Yukio, a yakuza on the run from his old clan, disrupts his life. Through Yukio, Kenji meets Noi, his total opposite. He is introverted and systematic. She is extroverted and lives in a messy beach house with a gecko. They are both lonely and stand outside society in their own way. By a twist of fate their lives intertwine. akek
