Buddies

In this Brazilian comedy we meet three young friends with Downs syndrome, who love movies and work at the video library at the institution where they live. Inspired by the movie Thelma and Louise, the three friends decide to run away from the institution in order to fulfil their dreams: Stalone wants to see the sea, Aninha wants to get married and Marcio wants to fly. In the gardener's car, they embark on a trip that turns out to be an adventure of a lifetime. Buddies is a road movie that shows us the simple things in life from a new angle. It has taken Latin America by storm and is now ready to take on the rest of the world. iu

Marcelo Galvão (b. 1973) is an award-winning director who studied filmmaking at New York Film Academy. In addition to Buddies (2012), he has also directed The Pit (2008) and Fourth Grade B (2005). Both received nominations and awards at international film festivals in Latin America. Galvão recently finished his latest film Farewell (2014).
