Paradise is a warm and different romantic comedy about the overweight Carmen and Alfredo that lead a happy life until Alfredo accepts a position at a bank. Carmen quits her job and leaves her carefree life to move with her husband. She feels like a fish out of water among all the slim people at his workplace, and when she overhears two women compare them to a Botero painting she signs up for a dieting class and asks her husband to support her by going on the same diet. Alfredo is sceptical at first, but becomes obsessed with losing weight when the pounds start to melt off. Carmen struggles, and the increasing weight gap creates conflict in their relationship. acvb

Mariana Chenillo is a director and scriptwriter, best known for Nora's Will (2008) with which she made history when she became the first female director to win the prestigious Ariel Award (the film was awarded a total of eight Ariel Awards). She has also directed parts of the series Soy tu fan (2010) and one segment of Revolución (2010).
