My Big Fat Bride
Here you are, a proper Indian love story! And how does such a story often begin? With an arranged marriage, a great deal of nagging family members, and an insecure and unsatisfied newly wedded couple! In familiar Bollywood-style, feelings and moods shift in an incredible tempo, thus, join this emotional roller coaster.
25 year old Prem early dropped out of high school, and his dominant father forces him to marry Sandhya, who is a teacher and therefore can provide for Prem’s family. Prem accepts unwillingly his destiny, but is deeply insulted because he thinks Sandhya is too fat to be his wife. The Sandhya we get to know, on the other hand, is a strong young woman who is brave enough to challenge India's traditional patriarchal society. Poor Prem feels more and more as a failure. We follow the young husband and wife in their attempts to get rid of their previous expectations to married life, as well as their struggle to adapt to life as it is. If you are a Bollywood-fan, you just have to watch this film!
