The Animatrix

A Japanese short film anthology based on The Matrix, which is already characterized as a cult classic. The Animatrix is not a remake, but rather nine independent short films based on the world of The Matrix, written and produced by the directors of the original Matrix trilogy.

The Wachowski brothers gathered some of the most talented filmmakers of the anime world and allowed them to direct one story each. The result is a fascinating submersion into the world of The Matrix, which is carried out with a unique combination of CGI and anima esthetic. In the same way that it is obligatory for every fan of “Lord of the Rings” to read Silmarillion, any serious fan of The Matrix must watch The Animatrix, in order to acquaint oneself with the origin of the main characters, as well as understand how this world was created.
