Seyran Ateş
Seyran Ateş (b. 1963) is a German-Turkish lawyer and human rights activist, and was one of Europe's first female imams. She founded the Ibn Rushd-Goethe mosque in 2017, as Germany's first liberal place of worship for Muslims. Ateş, a civil-rights activist, is best known for demanding equal rights for Muslim women and girls, She is also the focus of director Nefise Özkal Lorentzen's documentary Seyran Ateş: Sex, Revolution and Islam.
