Youssef Chahine
Chahine made a significant contribution to Egyptian culture throughout six decades, with artistically ambitious films that became internationally renowned. Through his films, he skilfully managed to reflect the enormous political and social upheaval within Egyptian society. His first film Daddy Amin premiered in 1950, and his last film Chaos was released in 2007. Chahine is also known as the filmmaker who discovered legendary actor Omar Sharif.
